May 2020 - AEG Transitions Association Client, AAMAS, to Virtual Conference
OAK CREEK, WI, May 26, 2020 – Association Executives Group (AEG) transitions the American Association of Medical Audit Specialists (AAMAS) 26th annual conference in 2020 to a virtual platform. Continued concerns over large group gatherings and extended dates for Safer at Home proclomations during the Covid-19 Pandemic helped to guide management decisions to transition the annual conference to a virtual platform. TheAAMAS conference, which was initially scheduled on April 21, 2020 in Louisville, KY, was rescheduled to May 18, 2020 and was live streamed across the country with the move to a virtual platform.
“AAMAS, a national association that has held annual professional development and networking conferences for over 25 years, was challenged with the decision to transition this year’s annual event to a new world of virtual conferencing,” commented Mary Jane LaBelle, president of AAMAS. “Without the help of AEG, its knowledgeable staff and commitment to helping us succeed, we would never have taken on this challenge.”
The virtual conference included live educational sessions via video streaming and allowed attendees the instant ability to connect and learn in interactive polls, quizzes and discussions during the virtual sessions. In only a matter of weeks, AEG was able to redesign the conference logo, rebuilt the conference website, designed new sponsorship opportunities built around the virtual environment and reorganized agendas.
“When the safer at home order was released; we adjusted our focus immediatly to make the transition to a virtual conference,” said Janet Wilhelms, AAMAS executive director. “I am thrilled we were still able to offer the educational opportunities AAMAS prides itself on, while providing health and safety during these unprecedented times.”

December 2008 - Denise Harris, President Of Association Executives Group, Named Director For The Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition Board
WALES, WI, December 21, 2008 – Association Executives Group (AEG) and the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition (WBCC) are pleased to announce that Denise Harris, President of AEG and a long-time resident of Mukwonago, has been elected as a new Director to the Board of the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition.
“Breast cancer has deeply affected me and many loved ones, and because of that, I have a personal and professional commitment to supporting local efforts that are working to find a cure,” notes Harris. “Over the past several years, AEG has donated hundreds of hours to the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition and to the Rock River HOG Chapter ‘Ridin’ to a Cure’ event, since these groups raise funds explicitly for breast cancer research and education in Wisconsin. This is our corporate charity of choice.”
As a Director, Harris will represent WBCC around the state at healthcare conferences, support group and cancer survivor events, and fundraisers as well as act as an advisor to Wisconsin policymakers and as a lobbyist/witness for the State Legislature for items supported by WBCC. She will also guide both internal and external marketing and communication efforts, and participate in general fundraising and other volunteer efforts for local events.
“WBCC has a ‘working board’ meaning that all directors assist in the development and implementation of strategic plans for WBCC, lead committees and actively promote the mission/vision and core values of the organization,” explains WBCC President, Ellen Vander Heyden.
The Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition brings Wisconsin voices together to stand up and speak out about breast cancer with education spotlighting critical breast cancer issues; collaboration through strategic alliances; and legislation to influence policymaking as well as fundraising and development.
The Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition is a statewide organization that is recognized as the premier resource on breast cancer policy issues. Since it was founded in 1994, the WBCC has initiated programs that directly reach people in Wisconsin, partnered with other organizations to affect changes in policy that have significantly increased funding for research on both the state and national level, and worked to improve access to quality care and treatment for all people.

September 2008 - We Need Your Support: Shock Campaign For “Ridin’ to a Cure” Rock River Hog Adopts New Pr To Benefit Breast Cancer Research In Wisconsin
WALES, WI, September 22, 2008 – Association Executives Group (AEG) is pleased to announce that it was selected by the Rock River Harley Owner’s Group (HOG) to develop a public relations campaign to promote their 2008 “Ridin’ to a Cure” fund raising event that annually benefits breast cancer research in Wisconsin.
Designed to be both contemporary and “edgy”—to attract the attention of bikers during the 105th Harley-Davidson anniversary celebration and to encourage participation in “Ridin’ to a Cure” on Saturday, September 27—billboard advertisements, posters for local venues and a unique “grass roots” business card promotion were developed by AEG.
“Our creative team designed a one-of-a kind, edgy campaign that appeals to the Harley enthusiast, expressing the need for ’support’ from men and all riders,” commented Denise Harris, President of Association Executives Group. Harris further explained, “Our agency has selected breast cancer to be our charity of choice; we are donating our services to ‘Ridin’ to a Cure’ and to the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition.”
The “Ridin’ to a Cure” advertising uses a faceless woman – representing the fact that breast cancer can affect women of all ages and races – who is being embraced by a supporting male figure. The image is intended to depict support in a non-sexual, strong, protective manner. The “We Need Your Support” headline addresses the literal visual support that is being given to the woman’s breast in the image.
However, the overall message of the campaign is to remind all viewers that women cannot fight breast cancer alone without the support of family and friends—and that women need support emotionally, financially and physically.
Ken Matthews, chairman of the 2008 “Ridin’ to a Cure” event, states, “This is a direct and candid approach so that people are aware of the fact that breast cancer affects both women and men. We need to get the message out that this is a very nasty disease and we truly need your support to find a cure. The campaign addresses this head on in a manner that is tasteful yet memorable.”
The male figure is portrayed with typical biker black leathers, medals, and tattoos representing sponsorship by Rock River HOG and Wisconsin Harley-Davidson. The use of orange and black coloration is another nod to Wisconsin Harley-Davidson sponsorship. In comparison, the women in the campaign are softer and more vulnerable; they are wearing a necklace with the ribbon symbol of breast cancer and, in some shots, a pink breast cancer arm band. The hot pink coloration and the logo’s integration of the motorcycle wheel with the pink breast cancer ribbon illustrate the marriage of these two elements in the campaign for “Ridin’ to a Cure.”
Shots were carefully posed with subtle lighting to project the message that women are not alone in facing this disease and that they can lean on family and friends for support during the difficult times of diagnosis and treatment.
The mission of this annual event is to raise money and educate the community on the truths and myths of breast cancer, and to inform the public on preventative care and ways to support breast cancer patients and survivors. From its inception in 1994, when $55,000 was collected, to last year’s ride that raised over $310,000, the Rock River HOG Chapter continues to grow this event each year. Run exclusively by volunteers, there are no administrative costs. Over the past thirteen years, the Rock River HOG Chapter has donated in total nearly $2.5 million toward breast cancer research in Wisconsin.
A Salute to Survivors Parade will travel through Oconomowoc on Friday, September 26, at 6:00 PM (staging at 5:00 PM at the mini-mall by Schwefel’s Restaurant located on Hwy 16 in Oconomowoc), followed by a pre-registration party (6:00 – 10:00 PM) at Olympia Resort and Conference Center.
The 2008 “Riding’ to a Cure” fundraiser departs from Wisconsin Harley-Davidson in Oconomowoc at 8:30 AM on Saturday, September 27 and will offer a day of scenic riding in the Kettle Moraine area with a delicious lunch and thirst quenching beverages, live band entertainment and a chance to win spectacular door prizes and auction items including a drawing for a 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Registration is 8:30 – 11:00 AM; a donation of $40 is requested.

July 2007 - Owner Of Association Executives Group Spearheads Building Restoration
WALES, WI, July 1, 2007 – In this age of widespread residential and commercial development, an old building may not have a chance to survive unless you find someone who believes in a renaissance. Denise Harris saw enough potential in a building on the northeast corner of Highway 83 and Main Street in Wales that she purchased it and returned it to its former glory through a significant restoration and expansion process. Today, the 5,000-square foot facility is the home of Association Executives Group, a full-service association management company.
“I had driven by the building for years and always had interest in it. I thought it was a unique architectural space,” said Harris. “When I examined the place, I knew it was perfect.”
Harris, an interior design enthusiast, went to work on transforming the two-story, 60-plus year old structure into something that would fit her taste while maintaining a piece of its history. The interior includes a combination of wood floors and carpeting, earth-tone walls, a warm, comfortable reception area, a state-of-the-art conference room and ample office space for growth. The rooms are complemented with many furnishings and art-deco pieces she purchased during the restoration process.
Harris felt it was a good idea to parlay the restoration of the existing building with an expansion to more than double the size of the original structure. The newest space was created on the east side of the building now houses three individual offices and a library on the main floor.
An upper floor includes two individual offices, a kitchen and plenty of additional space to accommodate the agency’s future growth. A basement includes enough space to store a variety of marketing materials.
“We wanted to make a unique, comfortable environment for our clients,” said Harris. “I am sort of an architectural buff and I wanted to maintain the integrity of the time this building was built in the ‘40s, and decorate it as an art-deco style with a lot of hand-made, frosted glass.”
A unique conversation piece which has stood the test of time is a thick chunk of drywall from the original creation of the structure’s bathroom. Subscribed on it were a few inscriptions from throughout the years, including one from 1946 that said, “I love you; Built the house.”
Harris was so moved with finding this historic piece that she encased it and hung it on the wall which divides the original structure and the expanded office space.
The building was built in 1946 by Merl Vollmer and David Edwards, and originally used as a residence until it was sold in 1975 to a realty company, which rented out the house to couples as a temporary place to live while their own homes were in the process of being constructed.
In the late ‘80s, Linda Beckman and a business partner bought the home with the ideas of renovating it and opening up a hair salon. Xanadu, Too! covered the main floor, with the rest of the building used as rental space. The business was in its 18th year when Harris inquired about leasing some space on the lower level. She admired the place so much and saw enough potential to make a purchasing offer.
“It turned out to be a good thing for both of us,” said Beckman, who relocated her salon business across the street from Association Executives Group in a strip mall along Highway 83.
Located at 262 W. Main Street, Association Executives Group now occupies the first building on the left as travelers make their way into the heart of Wales. The location can also be seen on Highway 83, and provides the opportunity for the business to be a part of a very quaint area and the close-knit Town of Wales community, as well.
“The restoration and addition to the building was tastefully done and added a measure of sophistication to Main Street, which is the gateway to the downtown,” said Wanda Gosa, a trustee on the board for the Village of Wales.
“I love the fact that it backs up to a nature preserve,” added Harris. “It brings the exposure and the convenience but also beauty and the quiet, too. It brings those two things together with the unique, architectural environment for our employees. We are a creative company and I wanted a creative environment for our employees and for our clients.”
